Year 7 Netball Tournament Highlights

Published on : 26 November 2021 / Categories: General

We LOVE sharing good news of our students' success in their extra-curricular commitments and it's starting to pay off! Our Y7 netball team participated in their FIRST tournament together last night; this was their first game as a full team, without any additional help from our Y8's.

Out of 8 schools, WE FINISHED 3RD, which is a fantastic achievement and just shows how committed and dedicated the team are! In BALTIC conditions, our girls put on their netball dresses (with a few extra layers) and made us very proud. Below are some of their individual highlights.

Olivia plays a vital role in the squad, constantly on the move, outsmarting players with her quick decision making, finding space, and scoring goals whenever she is in the Goal Attack position.  Evie and Maisie are our defenders, working hard to keep their opponents quiet by reading the game and intercepting passes. Isabelle plays as our Centre and like Olivia, is always on the move, wanting the ball and winning it back if not in possession. Grace and Lucy lacked confidence in the early days of netball practise but are now coming out of their shells and working hard as Wing Attack and Wing Defence, proving that their hard work really is paying off. Little Lucy also had a go as Goal Shooter and managed to bag herself a cheeky goal! Mercedes played as a Goal Shooter and Wing Attack, scoring some great goals, and working hard to create space to receive the ball from her teammates. And newcomer, Kyra, has taken to netball like a duck to water - what a natural! She is going to be a great netballer and played amazing throughout.

A special mention to Mrs Taylor and Miss Smith who are doing a great job with their weekly coaching after school and extra sessions were possible at lunchtimes.

Well done Team!
