A Festive Flashback

The Hyndburn Academy ended the term on a high with a joyful 12 Days of Christmas countdown, packed full of festive fun, rewards and opportunities to celebrate kindness, creativity and achievement across the school.

Each day brought something new to look forward to, starting with the ever-popular Elf on the Shelf, who caused plenty of excitement as students searched around the academy to spot his daily antics.

A highlight of the countdown was Personal Development Day, where our Year 10 students took time to reflect on kindness and compassion. As part of the #CardsForKindness campaign, pupils created thoughtful cards to spread positive messages, reminding everyone of the importance of empathy and giving during the festive season.

Celebration continued with Rudolph Recognition, a large prize giveaway that recognised students for their hard work, positive attitudes and commitment throughout the term. The excitement in the hall showed just how valued these moments of recognition are.

Our talented students then took centre stage at the Winter Wonderland Performing Arts Talent Show, wowing staff and peers with a fantastic range of performances that truly captured the festive spirit.

Festive competition followed with Miss Palmer’s Last Christmas Quiz and Bingo, bringing plenty of laughter, teamwork and friendly rivalry as students tested their knowledge and tried their luck.

To round off the celebrations, students enjoyed well-earned rewards trips. Year 11 students attended a special trip to Trafford, while students in Years 7–10 were treated to a cinema visit – a perfect way to celebrate their efforts and positive behaviour throughout the term.

The 12 Days of Christmas was a wonderful way to end the year, bringing our school community together and creating lasting memories. Thank you to all staff and students who helped make the countdown such a festive success.
