Boxing Intervention Empowers Students at Clayton Amateur Boxing Club

A group of our students have started a 6 week Boxing Intervention Programme at Clayton Amateur Boxing Club, designed to promote physical fitness, discipline and positive mental health. The initiative provided an excellent opportunity for students to develop resilience, confidence, and teamwork skills in a supportive environment.

The sessions focused on the fundamentals of boxing, including technique, strength, and conditioning, while also encouraging participants to set personal goals and build self-esteem. This programme is part of our wider commitment to supporting student wellbeing and offering alternative pathways for personal development.

Robb Ashton, Youth Support Worker, commented:
“The boxing intervention is about much more than sport. It gives young people a safe space to learn discipline, respect, and perseverance. We’ve seen students grow in confidence and develop skills that will benefit them in all areas of life.”

Students responded positively to the experience, with many expressing how much they enjoyed learning new skills and challenging themselves physically and mentally. The programme also highlighted the importance of healthy lifestyles and positive coping strategies.

We would like to thank Clayton Amateur Boxing Club and our dedicated staff for making this initiative possible. Opportunities like this help our students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
