Bronze DofE Success for 24 Students After Year of Challenge and Adventure

Twenty-four students have successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award after 12 months of hard work, dedication and adventure.

To achieve their award, students successfully completed all sections of the Bronze DofE programme, including volunteering, physical activity, skills development and the expedition section. Over the past year, students have dedicated their time to supporting their local communities through volunteering, improving their physical fitness and developing new personal skills.

As part of their preparation for the expedition, students attended weekly training sessions where they developed valuable outdoor and teamwork skills, including map reading, cooking, route planning and tent pitching. They also completed two practice walks to help prepare for the final assessed expedition.

The qualifying expedition took place last weekend at Whitehough, where students demonstrated teamwork, resilience and determination as they navigated routes independently, carried their own equipment and camped overnight.

DofE Leader Miss Smith praised the students for their commitment throughout the programme, saying:

“The students have shown fantastic determination and resilience over the past year. They should all be incredibly proud of what they have achieved, especially during the qualifying expedition at Whitehough.”

DofE Assessor Mr Ashton also congratulated the group, adding:

“It was great to see the confidence and teamwork the students displayed during their expedition. They supported each other brilliantly and represented the Academy exceptionally well.”

Staff were extremely proud of the students’ positive attitude and commitment throughout the programme. Completing the Bronze DofE award is a significant achievement and reflects the perseverance, enthusiasm and teamwork shown by all involved.

Congratulations to all 24 students on this fantastic accomplishment. These students will now be offered the oppourtunity to sign up for the Silver Award next academic year.
