We are incredibly proud to announce that 25 of our students have successfully achieved their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and 15 have gone on to earn their Silver Award this year!
Throughout the academic year, these students have demonstrated outstanding dedication by attending fortnightly after-school sessions to build their DofE skills. Beyond their training, they have selflessly volunteered their time to support local communities, truly embodying the spirit and values of the Award.
A standout moment of their journey was the water skills training at Clitheroe Canoe Club, where students gained confidence on the water and earned a Water Skills Award. They also undertook two practice walks to prepare for their final expeditions.
For their qualifying expeditions:
§ Bronze Award students camped at Whitehough, navigating the beautiful local landscape and putting their teamwork and navigation skills into action.
§ Silver Award students took on the stunning but challenging trails of Catbells in the Lake District, showcasing resilience and determination as they completed their expedition and camped in the heart of the national park.
These achievements were made possible thanks to the incredible efforts of our staff. A huge thank you to Miss Smith and Mr Ashton for their leadership, energy and commitment throughout the year. We are also deeply grateful to all staff who volunteered their time, whether for full weekends or as checkpoint supervisors, their support truly makes a difference.
Congratulations to all our DofE participants for your perseverance, teamwork and enthusiasm. You have made our Academy extremely proud!
Looking ahead, we are excited to be launching the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award to next year’s Year 9 students, while current Year 10 Bronze participants will have the chance to progress to the Silver Award, continuing their DofE journey and building on this year’s fantastic success.
