Over the past few weeks Evelyn Y10, has been generously giving her time after school to volunteer at Milly’s Smiles as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award. Her dedication and enthusiasm have already made a real difference to the charity and the families it supports.
Evelyn has been busy helping in a variety of ways. Having already become a dab hand at bag packing and fundraising, her latest project has been updating the charity’s Thank You Board. The result is a wonderful transformation. The board is now a beautiful, colourful celebration of all the incredible people who support Milly’s Smiles, with every note and name acting as a small burst of gratitude on the wall.
Evelyn’s creativity and care are clear to see in the finished display, which celebrates the generosity of the many people who support the charity’s work. Her commitment to volunteering is a fantastic example of the spirit of the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the positive impact young people can make in their communities.
Mrs Smith, our DofE Leader, said:
“We are incredibly proud of Evelyn and the dedication she has shown through her volunteering. The Duke of Edinburgh Award is all about giving back to the community, and Evelyn is a wonderful example of this in action. Her creativity and commitment have made a real difference, and she should be very proud of what she has achieved.”
We are incredibly proud of Evelyn for the difference she is making through her Duke of Edinburgh volunteering. Well done, Evelyn, and thank you for being such a star!
