Hyndburn Academy Students Shine at Enjoyneering Competition

Students from The Hyndburn Academy recently demonstrated their creativity, teamwork and engineering talent at the annual Enjoyneering Competition, hosted by Burnley College.

The event welcomed Year 9 and 10 students from secondary schools across Lancashire and offered an exciting opportunity to experience what studying Engineering is like in a professional college setting. Surrounded by Burnley College’s impressive facilities, students took part in a range of engaging, hands-on challenges designed to test their problem-solving and practical skills.

Throughout the day, teams tackled fun-filled engineering tasks including building balloon-powered cars and designing and launching catapults. Working against the clock, students collaborated effectively to plan, build and refine their designs, showcasing resilience, imagination and strong teamwork.

We are incredibly proud to announce that The Hyndburn Academy achieved an excellent second place overall. Our students performed brilliantly across all challenges and represented the academy with enthusiasm and determination.

Congratulations also go to Marsden Heights Community College, our valued partner school in Nelson, who were crowned competition champions following an outstanding performance. St Bede’s secured third place in what was a closely contested and inspiring event.

Mr Bradshaw, Trip Leader, praised the students’ efforts, saying:

“The students were outstanding throughout the day. They showed fantastic teamwork, problem-solving skills and a real enthusiasm for engineering. Finishing second against strong competition is a credit to their hard work and positive attitude.”

The Enjoyneering Competition was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their STEM skills, gain confidence and explore future pathways in engineering. Well done to all involved for making the day such a success.
