This week, selected students from Year 7 and Year 8 were given the opportunity to go beyond the classroom and get outside for national Outdoor Classroom Day.
Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement to make time outdoors part of every child’s day.
Mr Ashton and Ms Burrows took four groups of students to partake in the tudents were able to get Hands-On with multiple outdoor activities, get curious and get creative enjoying a day packed with adventure, creativity and hands-on learning.
Students learnt how to safely build and light fires, to constructing their own shelter, they all enjoyedked session. One of the highlights was making their own fires and using them to toast marshmallows for delicious s’mores. Students also worked together to build shelters, putting their creativity, communication and problem-solving skills to the test as they planned and constructed their own outdoor shelters.
Theo, Year 8, said, "It was Brilliant, I would like to do it again." Another student said, "Fantastic, no words. I loved it!"
It was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their teamwork, problem-solving and practical skills while enjoying everything the outdoors has to offer.
A huge well done to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success. We look forward to many more opportunities for learning and adventures that don’t just end at the classroom.
