A Year 8 student from The Hyndburn Academy has achieved remarkable success at the National Indoor Rowing Championships in London, delivering an exceptional performance against top athletes from across the country.
Rahib competed with determination and skill, finishing 1st in his heat and securing an impressive 4th place overall nationally. His performance placed him among the very best in his age group, highlighting both his athletic ability and commitment to excellence.
In addition to his individual success, Rahib was selected to represent the national relay team, where he played a key role in helping the team achieve 2nd place. Across combined Year 8 and Year 9 boys’ standings, the team ranked 4th overall, further underscoring the high level of competition and achievement.
The occasion was made even more memorable by the presence of the Hyndburn team, who travelled to London to support Rahib. Their attendance reflected the Academy’s strong culture of teamwork, pride, and community spirit, providing encouragement that contributed to an unforgettable experience.
Principal Mr Wazir commented:
“We are incredibly proud of our students’ exceptional achievements. From their remarkable regional performances to Rahib’s national success, they have shown determination, resilience, and outstanding character. Taking the whole team to London to support Rahib was a wonderful moment for our school community.”
This achievement marks a significant milestone for both Rahib and the Academy, celebrating not only sporting excellence but also the values of unity and support that define the school community.
