Students from The Hyndburn Academy have been enjoying weekly Friday fishing sessions at Cornfield Fishery in partnership with MS Angling.

The sessions have provided students with the opportunity to develop new skills, improve patience and concentration, and enjoy time outdoors in a calm and supportive environment. Throughout the programme, students have learned a range of fishing techniques while building confidence, teamwork and resilience.

The group’s hard work and dedication were rewarded recently when The Hyndburn Academy won a trophy for achieving the greatest total weight of fish caught during the competition. Students were delighted with their success and celebrated a fantastic team achievement.

Robb Ashton praised the students for their efforts, saying:

“The students have been outstanding throughout the fishing programme. They have shown patience, teamwork and determination every week, and winning the trophy for the most weight of fish caught was a fantastic achievement that they thoroughly deserved.”
