A group of Year 10 students recently represented the Academy at a Maths Feast competition held at Burnley College, showcasing their problem-solving skills and mathematical thinking against other schools from across the region.
The Maths Feast is a fast-paced and challenging event designed to test students’ ability to work collaboratively under pressure. Across several rounds, teams tackled a variety of engaging mathematical problems, requiring logic, resilience, and clear communication.
Our students performed admirably throughout the competition, demonstrating excellent teamwork and determination. They worked methodically through each challenge and supported one another to reach solutions, even when faced with particularly demanding questions.
At the end of the event, the team achieved an impressive 8th place overall—a strong result in a competitive field. Their effort and attitude were a credit to the Academy, and they represented us with pride.
Mr Halliwell, Maths Teacher, praised the students’ performance and highlighted how it reflected the academy's core values:"I was really impressed with the ambition and confidence shown by the team. They approached each round with a positive mindset and weren’t afraid to take on difficult problems. Events like this help to build aspiration, and the students should be proud of how they challenged themselves and supported each other throughout the day."
