A curriculum that develops the individual and supports independant thinking.
At the Hyndburn Academy we are continually striving to improve our curriculum. Our intention is to provide our students with a full breadth of subjects to develop learning that is engaging, broad, balanced, and personalised.
We aim to ensure that all students study a rich, varied and challenging curriculum that develops them as young people and academics. We are continually reviewing our curriculum to ensure that it provides the best possible breadth to our students, whilst also staying in line with current and future curricular developments.
Students follow a two-week timetable consisting of three 100 minute periods per day. We start every day with registration/tutor time and our Key Stage 3 students have a period of DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time, attached to their form time, incorporated into everyday to support students to continue to develop their oracy and literacy. We believe that this time is essential to support students to fully access the curriculum and make good progress within Key Stage 3 and when accessing their GCSE subjects in KS4.
