Hyndburn Academy's Personal Development Day Empowers Students

On Thursday, The Hyndburn Academy recently dedicated a full day to the personal growth and well-being of its students through an engaging and educational Personal Development Day.  This day allowed each year group to focus on essential aspects of personal growth and life skills.

Year 7: Health and Wellbeing, First Aid, Road Safety, and Relationships- The youngest members of the school learned about crucial life skills like first aid, road safety, and the importance of healthy relationships. These foundational lessons are integral to their growth and development.

Year 8: Dove Confident Me, Gambling, and Online Behaviours - Year 8 students delved into building self-confidence with the Dove Confident Me program. They also learned about the potential pitfalls of gambling and the significance of responsible online behaviours.

Year 9: Skills for Employment - Year 9 students honed their skills for future employment.

Year 10: Online Harassment and Mental Health - Year 10 students addressed critical issues of online harassment and mental health awareness. Equipping them with strategies to navigate these challenges is crucial in today's digital age.

Year 11: Further Education Applications - The final year of secondary school is pivotal for future education choices. Year 11 students received guidance on making successful applications for further education.

'Have a Go Workshop' with Channel 4 - Additionally, a group of Year 9 and 10 students participated in the 'Have a Go Workshop' delivered by Channel 4 Schools, where they worked in groups to come up with ideas for a new series and discovered different careers within the industry. Students were enthusiastic, eager to pitch their ideas to Channel 4 and learn more about the media industry.
