The Turing Scheme provides funding to UK organisations to unlock life-changing experiences across the world for their pupils, students and learners. Year 10 students have applied for the opportunity to attend a 'once in a lifetime' trip to either Morocco or Eswatini. A group of Year 10 students have flown out to Morocco and the students selected to go to Eswatini fly out in July. Here is what they have been getting up to so far: Day 1: we explored the city of Rabat’s local Bazaar markets, the river separating Rabat and Sale, and the Old Medina. Day 2 - we played football with some of the locals in the Rabat Gardens, visited the art museum, and tried some delicious pasta. Day 3 - our students visited a local school where we discussed the cultural differences between England and Morocco, and got to know their students. We had a visit from an inspirational woman who is an advocate for women’s rights and equality in Morocco, she explained what her organisation is doing to help young women here. Day 4 - we learned about the different celebrations in each of our countries, our students loved learning about Ramadan, and teaching the locals about Halloween and Christmas. We visited the biggest house in the Medina where we had traditional Moroccan tea. Day 5 - today we had a cooking class on how to make Moroccan tagine and their incredible traditional mint tea.
