The Hyndburn Academy hosts Christmas spectacular!

Families and friends flocked to The Hyndburn Academy on Tuesday 17 December for a spectacular Christmas Cracker show.

The evening saw students perform a range of excellent, thoughtful and festive pieces – showcasing not only their musical abilities but their dancing and acting talents too. The audience was even treated to a selection of pieces from The Hyndburn Academy’s upcoming school show ‘The Wizard of Oz’, which will take place in February.

From soloists and musicians to large scale ensemble numbers, all the students took to the stage with confidence and put on impressive performances. They have been rehearsing solidly for the show over the past few weeks and were determined to showcase the best of their abilities. They were delighted that their efforts paid off, with the audience thoroughly enjoying the show.

Likewise, behind the scenes, students and staff have been working incredibly hard. Organised by Miss Alcott from the performing arts department, everything from costume to lighting had to be thought out well before the show to ensure it all came together on the night.

Nicola Palmer, Headteacher of The Hyndburn Academy, said:

“This year’s Christmas Cracker show was an excellent way to round off the term and celebrate our wonderful students and staff. It was clear to everyone that attended just how much time, energy and thought had gone into the performances.

“It’s not easy to get up on stage and perform in front of an audience, so I was incredibly proud to see so many of our students get involved – from Year 7 right up to Year 11. These sorts of opportunities are a really vital part of any school experience and what we want to deliver as part of an Education with Character.

“All those that performed, and everyone that helped to make the evening such a success, deserve a huge round of applause. We are very grateful that so many parents and visitors were able to join us and enjoy the show as well.”
