Rishton Festival

Rishton Festival

Published on : 19 June 2023 / Categories: General

On Saturday the 8th July 2023, Rishton Festival will bring the Rishton community together in celebration of the beginning of the reign of King Charles III - the King’s Coronation.

The day will begin with a parade starting at Rishton train station car park, led by Haslingden and Helmshore Colliery Brass Band, weaving through Rishton’s terrace streets before arriving at the festival ground (the field in front of Hyndburn Academy's sports centre). Many paraders will have entered into the spirit and will be carrying decorated hand-crafted Coronation Umbrellas and will be wearing decorated Coronation outfits (made almost entirely with recycled materials!).

The event will include children’s rides, stalls (run by local voluntary groups and local arts and crafters), and they’ll be a raised stage for musical and dance acts.

We want to thank Hyndburn Academy for allowing us to use this site (on this occasion and in previous years) and for providing access to toilet facilities and other facilities which are essential in ensuring the festival can continue to take place.

We also want to thank the National Lottery Community Fund, Tesco’s Community Grants, Hyndburn Council and our Lancashire County Councillors (Carole and Noordad) for providing us with some essential grant funding which enables us to continue to ensure that this a free entry low-cost event for families.

The festival, as well as a celebration of His Majesty, will also be a celebration of the creativity and spirit of our community. We have always ensured that all sections of the community feel welcome. The festival connects people, rekindles old friendships, and establishes new ones. This event contributes to ensuring that Rishton remains a strong united, caring, community.

So, it will be lovely to see you on the day and let’s hope for a very reigny day, and not a very rainy day!
